NovaTract™ Selected As One of the Top Innovations of the Year by the Society of Laparoendoscopic Surgeons

Wednesday, August 28, 2013

Reston, Va. – The Society of Laparoendoscopic Surgeons (SLS) announced that the NovaTract™ Laparoscopic Dynamic Retractor will be recognized at the Minimally Invasive Surgery Week Annual Meeting & Endo Expo 2013 as one of the 2013 Innovations of the Year. SLS recognizes the most innovative products of the past year that have a multidisciplinary application in minimally invasive surgery. This recognition will occur during the meeting’s Opening Ceremony on Wednesday, August 28, 2013 from 4:45 pm – 6:45 pm in the Grand Ballroom at the Hyatt Regency Reston in Reston, Virginia.

The NovaTract™ is a 5mm laparoscopic dynamic retraction device designed for use in general, colorectal, gynecologic, urologic, and robotic-assisted minimally invasive procedures. The unique patent-pending retraction system helps increase visualization while reducing the number of ports needed. The NovaTract™ offers dynamic tissue manipulation with its exclusive tension adjusting system, coupled with the ability to easily modify the angle of retraction. This award-winning technology will allow the surgeon to achieve reduced-port surgeries without changing surgical technique or requiring a unique set of instrumentation.

The NovaTract™ comes loaded with a General Purpose Grasper Tip and can be reloaded multiple times throughout a procedure. While requiring a 5mm port to introduce the device, a dedicated port is not necessary to maintain retraction and adjust tension throughout the procedure. The Grasper Tip can easily be repositioned on the tissue by either using the device or traditional laparoscopic instruments. The Anchor placed in the peritoneum, may also be moved throughout the procedure as needed to change the angle of retraction providing optimum tissue manipulation and visualization. The Grasper Tip is toggled by a synthetically braided Tension Line which feeds through the trocar port allowing the port to be used simultaneously for additional instrumentation needed to complete the procedure.  All components are removed at the conclusion of the procedure.

“We are honored to be recognized by SLS for the NovaTract™ and its impact on minimally invasive surgery,” says Eleanor L. Tandler, chief executive officer and a founder of NovaTract Surgical, Inc. “SLS is one of the largest minimally invasive societies in North America. Receiving recognition for this award is a testament to the value of our technology.”

NovaTract Surgical, Inc. will be showcasing the NovaTract™ laparoscopic dynamic retractor at this week’s Minimally Invasive Surgery Week Annual Meeting & Endo Expo 2013 in Booth #22 at the Hyatt Regency in Reston, Virginia. For more information on the NovaTract™, please visit www.novatract.com.

About The Society of Laparoendoscopic Surgeons – The organization was established as an educational, non-profit organization to help ensure the highest standards for the practice of laparoscopic, endoscopic and minimally invasive surgery. The Society serves surgeons from various specialties and other health professionals who are interested in advancing their expertise in the diagnostic and therapeutic uses of laparoendoscopic and minimally invasive surgical techniques. With an international membership of over 6,000 surgeons, the organization offers a unique approach to the study and education of minimally invasive surgery by bringing together different medical specialties that use the techniques and tools of minimally invasive surgery.

About the Society of Laparoendoscopic Innovations of the Year – SLS recognizes the most innovative products of the past year that have a multidisciplinary application in minimally invasive surgery. Innovations of the Year are announced in August at SLS’s Minimally Invasive Surgery Week Annual Meeting and Endo Expo. Products are selected for informational purposes only. SLS does not endorse or approve any products. Surgeons should investigate any new equipment for safety and suitability for their particular practice and needs.
